SafeSport Program

USA Hockey SafeSport Program

Dear Hockey Parents,

Welcome to another exciting year of Albert Lea Hockey.  While much of the attention in athletic safety at all levels of competition and sports has been focused on head injury and concussion, the SafeSport guidelines developed by USA Hockey, include components relating to the use of social media, screening of coaches and officials, locker room policies, abuse/hazing and travel rules.

As part of the compliance with the state law and USA Hockey, Minnesota Hockey and District 9 guidelines, several things are being done to promote education and awareness, particularly for concussion injuries.

As part of the Albert Lea Hockey Association Website, links are available to the USA Hockey SafeSport Program and to the SafeSport Handbook.  A link to the Centers for Disease Control website on concussion in sports will also be provided.  We strongly encourage all parents to review these Websites.  If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  We all look forward to a successful and safe hockey season.
